As it turns out, Usher did not break up a happy home.

Jimalita Tillman, a native of Chicago, went viral after a video of her having a close encounter with Usher at his London concert became all the rage on social media. In the viral clip, which was first shared on TikTok, Usher and Tillman are seen making eye contact before he dangles cherries over her mouth, a tradition at his shows.

After the concert, one viral tweet alluded to Tillman being hit with divorce papers by her husband but she’s not even married.

In an interview on Chicago’s WGN9, Tillman shared her story of meeting the “Nice & Slow” singer.

“When he came around with those cherries, I said, ‘Well, life is a bowl of cherries, I’ll take one, maybe two,’” Tillman said.  She aslo noted that many online have labeled her as “Aunty Cherry.”

“He wasn’t even supposed to stop where we were! It was like magnetic. And he smells like vacation,” she continued while explaining where she was at the concert. “One of the young ladies was telling him I’m a retired homeschool mom and that this should be her moment. … So he brought me closer and I locked in. I brought out all the Broadway magic that I had, but it was easy! He has a magnetic personality. And I’m really excited about this opportunity because now Harold Washington is getting a lot of play and people are following things my daughter is doing!”

As the interview went on, Tillman shot down all rumors about her being divorced.

“That is completely false. I am single. I am a retired homeschool mom looking to expand the arts here and across the pond. I am single. You got a cherry, give me a jingle,” she said. “I don’t want him [Usher] to be uncomfortable, or anybody in his camp to be uncomfortable. I am embracing the moment. The moment was beautiful. But when it comes to fan fiction or whatever that story is that’s out there, I am single. I am so happy the way Chicago has been supporting me.”

When she’s not getting close to Usher, Tillman serves as the global director of the non-profit Harold Washington Cultural Center in Chicago. Taking to Instagram, she recapped her time in London at Usher’s show.
