Mike Epps, the acclaimed comedian and actor, has confirmed that the highly anticipated film “Last Friday” is officially moving forward. During a recent interview, Epps shared that Ice Cube, the franchise’s creator and star, has finalized a deal to commence production.
The “Friday” series began in 1995 with the original film, introducing audiences to the comedic duo of Craig Jones (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker). The success of “Friday” led to two sequels: “Next Friday” (2000), which marked Mike Epps’ debut as Day-Day Jones, and “Friday After Next” (2002). Fans have eagerly awaited a fourth installment, and Epps’ recent announcement has reignited excitement.
Epps revealed that Ice Cube recently informed him about the project’s progress. “He called me the other day and said, ‘We just finished the deal,’” Epps recounted. While the script’s details remain under wraps, Epps expressed confidence in its quality. “I haven’t seen the script, but I’m pretty sure it’s good,” he stated.
The upcoming film is expected to blend original characters with fresh talent. Epps hinted at the inclusion of emerging comedians, mentioning D.C. Young Fly as a potential cast member. “We’re going to put the D.C. Young Flys and all of them being with the OGs,” Epps explained.
