Rihanna closed out 2024 by celebrating a personal milestone: a full year of sobriety. On New Year’s Day, the “Love on the Brain” singer shared her accomplishment on Instagram, marking the moment with an intimate video as she welcomed 2025.

“Y’all, I didn’t drink all year,” Rihanna revealed in the clip, her joy evident as she counted down to midnight.

Instead of the typical celebrity festivities or a surprise performance, the Grammy-winning artist and mother of two opted for a low-key evening at home, surrounded by close friends. She playfully captioned the post, “New year, new me,” leaving fans to wonder if her sobriety will continue into the new year.

The video sparked admiration across social media. “I love that she’s celebrating NYE with her close ones in a dressing gown in her bedroom,” one fan commented, embracing Rihanna’s down-to-earth vibe.

The post resonated with many who shared similar goals, including one user who wrote, “I went into 2025 liquor-free too,” earning over 2,400 likes.

However, no Rihanna update is complete without a flood of questions about her long-awaited ninth studio album. One fan cheekily wrote, “We want an album, forehead,” prompting a witty response from Rihanna: “Listen, Lorenzo! You ain’t cute enough to be calling me by my Black name, you dizzy f**k!”

Though Rihanna hasn’t released a full-length project since ANTI in 2016, the album’s legacy remains strong. Debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the 16-track masterpiece has spent an incredible 452 weeks on the charts. ANTI introduced fans to enduring hits like “Work” featuring Drake, “Needed Me,” “Desperado,” and the SZA collaboration “Consideration.”
