Usher has postponed the first night of his anticipated tour to focus on his health.

Fans expected to witness the official kick-off of the singer’s “Past Present Future Tour” in his hometown of Atlanta on Wednesday night, August 14. Unfortunately, the show was canceled just hours before Usher was set to hit the stage. In an explanation he posted to social media, the Grammy award-winning singer said he needed to give his “body a second to rest and heal.” In a follow-up message, Usher revealed he suffered from a neck injury while rehearsing for the tour.

“For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” Usher wrote. “I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal. You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% of me.”

The 45-year-old artist was scheduled to launch his tour with a three-night run in Atlanta before he moves on to the rest of the country. His hometown kick-off has turned into his grand finale. Usher confirmed his tour dates at the State Farm Arena have been rescheduled to December 9, 10 and 12. His upcoming string of shows is expected to feature elements from his Las Vegas residency and his 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which had him pulling stunts on skates and other strenuous routines. Clearly, he needs a little bit more time to rest before he delivers his best tour yet.

“The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start,” he wrote. “However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best. My team will be sharing news of the rescheduled date soon. I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you.”

Usher’s “Past Present Future Tour” is expected to hit major cities across the U.S. before he wraps up in October. Tickets are still on sale now.
